Mariano Sánchez Díaz, with more than 33 years of experience in this profession, explains how to quickly defrost products in the freezer so they are ready to cook.
Nowadays, the freezer has become an indispensable appliance in the home. In addition to preserving food, its usefulness extends to facilitating meal planning, reducing waste and optimising time.
One thing to keep in mind is that products should be taken out ahead of time so they can thaw and be prepared. However, we sometimes forget this step due to the stress of our daily routine.
When this happens, we tend to think that we can no longer make that meat dish we were craving. However, it is important to know that there are tricks to defrost a piece of meat in record time. This is confirmed by Mariano Sánchez Díaz, a Spanish butcher with more than 33 years of experience in the profession.
The trick to defrosting meat in just 15 minutes, according to a butcher
Mariano Sánchez Díaz claims to have a ‘great trick’ for defrosting a piece of meat in 15 minutes. The butcher explains what you need. ‘You only need two saucepans,’ he says.
Once you have the pots, the professional explains what to do. ‘We turn one of the pots upside down. We place the meat on the surface, in my case some chorizo sausages. We place the other pot on top and leave it there for a quarter of an hour. If we want to speed up the process, we can add a little hot water, at about 60-70 degrees,’ he explains.
Once the estimated time has passed, Mariano checks to see if the product has thawed. ‘Metal conducts heat much faster than air. You can now poke it with your finger and it’s ready to eat,’ he says.
